Lillian was conceived as a kinetic sculpture that looks out to sea. A pair of moving eyes search the horizon as if imbued with an anima. It draws on traditions of talismanic eyes that “see” beyond vision. The work remembers Lillian Beaurepaire, a pioneering women lifesaver from Lorne in the early 20th century.
